Hermana Nunn

Here are a few glimpses of Hanna's mission preparation and at-home MTC.

Rod Olsen didn't charge Hanna to shoe her horse - a donation to her mission.
Roger Lewis didn't charge Hanna to adjust her horse - a donation to her mission.

Hanna got reassigned to the Canada Toronto Mission (temporarily, we hope). She will go there after she finishes her online MTC training.

She met with Bishop Leishman and President Ferguson as her last interviews before her mission and to get her temple recommend (even though the temples are still closed).

Hanna told us that President Ferguson's counsel was just what she needed to hear. She said she had been struggling this week, but he told her that she would be such a good missionary and that it will help her in all of the rest of her life and that sometimes sister missionaries can touch people's lives when the elders can't. She said it was just what she needed to hear. She also said it was motivating to hear it from someone who hasn't been there through this whole journey, but gave another confirmation of what she should do.

Hanna and her companion, Hermana Labrum, were having a break-out room meeting on zoom with their teacher. They were both telling their teacher how they can memorize the Spanish words, but to put them together in a conversation or to share a thought is really hard. She told them that when they get to the mission field, it will still feel like they don't know the language and that it will come with time, so not to worry too much. She also told them that Latino people are very patient and helpful in teaching people Spanish, not like English speakers. Then she promised them that if they work their very hardest during their MTC time, they would be blessed with the best trainers to help them as they transition into learning Spanish. Hanna was so thankful and felt the Spirit confirm that promise.

Hanna's MTC district was having a debate if you eat mac and cheese with a spoon or a fork. So then they asked their teacher. She said, "I don't really go to McDonalds and when I do I don't get a hamburger (Big Mac) because I don't really like them." Then she finally figured out they meant the pasta mac and cheese, not a big mac. Too funny. Love the language barriers.

Her afternoon teacher is a little more strict, so the other day one of the elders took a bite of his sandwich right before she asked him a question. So then she gave them a little speech about how it is not good manners to eat during class. So the district messaged each other and told everyone to get a sandwich on the break. So they were all eating a sandwich when they came back. The teacher just said, okay, time to put your sandwiches away.

Also, whenever they are working on memorizing something and it is Hanna's turn to say it, the teacher says, "Hermana Nunn, are you cheating? Are you just reading it?" So her district likes to tease her about that too.

Whenever her afternoon teacher has troubles with her computer or getting zoom to work, she says to her computer "Obey me."

Loved reading all the posts about Hanna/mission/Lena, etc. She's going to have some amazing experiences in Toronto/Dominican Republic. Lots to look forward to for your entire family!
