Summer

Sometimes I have good ideas. Like when I suggest Taylor, Kaela, Lucy & Carly go on a boat ride on our pond. Then as soon as they got to the middle, it started to pour. Like really pour rain. Carly was so afraid she was going to die.

Hanna, Lucy, Carly and I went on a hike to Bertha Falls in Waterton. They just barely had opened the trail after the fires last fall. It was actually really sad to see all of the burned trees and there was NO shade. There is lots of undergrowth on the ground but it will be decades for the trees to recover. Then a few yards before the falls, the fire didn't cross that path. At the falls, the bridge and wooden walkway is just fine and the trees still have leaves. Of course we stopped for ice cream at big scoop after our hike.

When Jill came home, we tried to pack in the adventures. Bailey Cahoon came with us one evening to Police Lake. The wildflowers are awesome! We walked to the US/Canada border crossing. Carly was super worried that we stayed too long and walked too far onto the US side.

Jill had planned to come home for a week in July, but then she had an unfortunate job situation a couple days before she left. She was working at Doterra Essential Oils call center, and she placed an order for Aunt Diana and then paid for it and picked it up and she lost her job over it because they didn't know she is her aunt and it looked like she had stolen a customer's points. She tried to explain the situation, but they still said they were going to let her go. Losing a job is not fun. She did end up getting to stay a few extra days, but that meant she had to go back home and hit the job search trail again.

The good news that came a couple days after Jill came home was that her Utah residency was approved which is why she had to stay in Utah for the summer. Now she is approved for in-state tuition! So we decided to eat at Zum's in Waterton to celebrate. Plus Jill got to say hi to her people and we got to watch Hanna in action since she was working at Zum's as a hostess for her summer job. We had to take a picture of Carly eating her wings because she got them all over her face:)

Lucy and Carly got to go to Cougar Basketball Camp for a week. Carly was in the younger group and Lucy was in the older group. They love it!
