Waite Family Fun Days

WFFD Quote Wall:

Kaylynn - The key is small serving spoons (so you don't run out of food)
Tristan - part the Semons (taking the family picture)
Matt - Nathan, you look more normal than you feel (family picture)
Matt - That's in vitro humor
Jeanette - I think you're going to like this one better. The heads are going to be more evenly sized (ironic for a family with larger than average head sizes)
Grandma Carol - Bee where you are supposed to bee when you are supposed to bee there.
Nathan - We have cell phones. We can watch Youtube videos, play princess games.  PRESTON - you have princess games? Nathan - Read the Book of Mormon.
Nathan telling about when he was sick on his mission - How far will you follow me?
Julie - Marriage has never been on my suck list.
Jeanette - I have to babysit myself which stinks
Julie - He's super pleasant except when he's not
Grandpa/Grandma - We are going to get a $500 fine for...

It has been a few years since we have been able to pull off a Waite Family Fun Days gathering. The stars aligned this year and the entire Waite family as it now stands was together for a few hours. Our oldest nephew, Nathan Bennett, got home from his mission to Mexico, and so we planned WFFD around his homecoming. We got to hear him speak in Sacrament Meeting. He did such a great job. He talked about how much he loved eating fresh pineapple and mangoes but the people there were so used to them that they couldn't believe he made such a big deal about it.  He compared it to taking the gospel for granted and getting used to it so that it's not such a big deal anymore. In the middle of his talk he said he couldn't think of the English word and had to look up a scripture to find what he was trying to say. The scripture he said was yielding your heart to God. Do we yield our hearts to God? Then he bore his testimony in Spanish. He was a good missionary. We loved reading his weekly letters.

Young Nunns Come to Canada

It's always a good day when the Young Nunns come to visit.  Katie is the cutest thing ever and kept us all entertained.

Grandma had her annual tea party where the cousins make a goal for the year and read last year's goals.

The teenagers went to the temple to do baptisms. The big people got to do sealings. We had lot of family names to do so it was a pretty cool experience.

Grandma Nunn had a family history activity for us. We had some ancestors who were some of the first settlers in Caldwell, which was a small community between Mountain View and Hill Spring. This was their church that is now being used as a barn. There was also a small cemetery marker that Ross Jacobs installed to honor those who were buried near Caldwell.

Lucy and Carly have been working in our trees to create a campground. One of the nights all of the teenagers/pre-teen cousins came to sleep in the campground. It was really quite cozy. The funny part was that Lucy and Carly both ended up sleeping inside. Lucy actually only came in at 6 am. She woke up and watched the sun rise and then came to sleep on the couch for a little longer.

We also took time for our Nunn rodeo in our arena.

We went to play at Lee's Creek. It wasn't a super hot day, but it was still fun. As you can see, most of the adults sat on the shore. Austin and I were the only ones who went in the water (shocker:)

The cousins went on an adventure to Brenda Leavitt's hoodoo rocks and played tag. We took a couple pictures before we headed back to our house for an outdoor movie, The Greatest Showman. Katie just played with our dog, Patch, through the whole movie. Partway through the movie, we could hear her with the dog under the trampoline saying, now we are going to wash your head and your ears, etc. Patch just took it like a champ.

We went for a Sunday drive to Waterton. We walked around and threw rocks in the lake.
