Surprise - 40 Years Old!

left my 30s and turned 40 years old today!

Austin made me a delicious breakfast of an omelet, sticky buns, and fruit and yogurt. The girls all got up and ate breakfast with us, and they all went back to bed and Austin went to his church meetings.

I went to choir practice, and we all went to church. There is nothing better than Christmas Sacrament Meetings.  I love singing with the choir - especially when the organ and piano play and all the congregation joins in.  I also got to sing with a double quartet - Silent Night.

Nursery started out okay, but they were wound up and noisy by the end.  I was happy to see their parents come!

After church, we took a few pictures of the Nunn girls.

Then Austin called and said that he needed me to come back to the church and go visit a ward member with him.  Then he said he needed to check the heat at the Leavitt Community Center, and to my surprise - my friends were all there to surprise me.

Barb Salmon was the organizer for Operation 40. They had crackers, vegetables, meats & cheeses, and smoothies. They also had cupcakes - made without oil so I could eat them (with mayo instead). They were really yummy. They had decorations and party hats  - and they were careful to not use any Christmas colors.

Barb Salmon, Marilee Cahoon, Dixie Bevans, Karen Bevans, and Shauna Smith and their families came to the party, along with my family and Buck & Martha.

They even gave me gifts: gloves, lotion, book, soap, necklaces, and chocolate.

AND then Barb had made a slideshow of pictures of me and short videos of my family wishing me happy birthday.  Jill and Hanna sent her most of the pictures.

My friends rock.

And then we came home and ate the roast and potatoes that Austin had in the crockpot all day.  And Martha made us a cheesecake.

My family gave me a mirror, a sweater and dish towels.  They went to great effort to find birthday wrapping paper - thanks to Josie Bevans.

Buck & Martha gave me a lamp and steak knives.    My parents gave me a new frying pan.  Steve & Karma Albiston sent me a card and $20.

Thanks to the birthday wishes from friends, texts, facebook, etc. December birthdays aren't so bad after all!

Austin has come a long way from his "11 p.m. trip to Walmart" days. :-) Happy 40th! I'm not too far behind.
