My birthdays have gone uphill since the birthday tragedy of 2006.
My friends had a birthday lunch for me and Karen Bevans a few weeks earlier. We had delicious food and funny conversation!
On my birthday, I stayed home to cheer Jill on during her basketball games while Austin took the other 3 girls to Small Spurs Rodeo in Claresholm. Maybe it was good luck because it was my birthday, but it was the best rodeo ever. Carly placed 3rd in goats and 2nd in barrel racing. Lucy was 5th in goats. Hanna placed 2nd in breakaway and 1st in team roping and 1st in goat tying. They rocked it!!!
Jill's team played against Medicine Hat. They won both the junior varsity and varsity games. She had the high points for JV - 15 points.
After we were all gathered back home for the day, we grilled steaks - what every Canadian does on December 20. It was pretty nice for a winter day, so we pulled out the grill. We also ate mashed potatoes and cesar salad. Then we were off to Grandma Nunn's for cheesecake.
My family gave me a super cute purse and new white sheets for our bed,
I have to admit I really like getting Facebook birthday messages - all 101 of them!
My friends were also kind - with gifts from Dixie Bevans, Barb Salmon, Karen Bevans, and Tammy Sommerfeldt and both of our parents!
Austin's birthday 3 weeks ago was not one for the books. I did make him sticky buns and bacon for breakfast and then we drove home from Idaho Falls. We had Subway from the gas station in Great Falls for lunch but we didn't even sit down to eat it because we wanted to get home before dark since it had snowed the day before. His only birthday present was new muck boots which we bought a few days earlier and called them his birthday present. My parents did give him a scripture marking pen, and his mom did have soup and a cake when we got back to Cardston (but she didn't even give him a present or card - we know where he stands - ha ha).
