We had a really fun couple days with the Nunn family. We met in Wallace, Idaho and biked the Hiawatha Trail. It is a great meeting place because it is almost exactly halfway between our house and Les's house.
We rented a vacation rental house in Wallace and met there on Sunday night. Then on Monday we biked the Hiawatha Trail. I highly recommend it. The trail is 15 miles and is all flat or down hill, and you get to go through tunnels and over bridges. Then at the bottom you can take a shuttle back to the top. The two champs of the day were Katie and Will. Katie is six, and she only learned to ride her bike a couple months ago when we made this plan to bike the trail. Her parents promised her an ice cream party if she biked it. She rocked it. The first tunnel is 1.6 miles so it takes almost 20 minutes. She didn't love it, but she did it. After the shuttle brings you back up the hill, you have to ride back through the tunnel to your cars. She had the option to just get in Grandpa and Grandma's car (because they didn't bike the trail) or ride back through the tunnel, and she decided to conquer it. It was impressive, and the ice cream party was fun too.
Will got to ride in a bike trailer behind Larsen's bike. He did great. He would ride along for a little while and then fall asleep. He would wake up on our breaks, and then fall back asleep. I thought he might even scream all the way back on the shuttle, but he didn't. For Will, go on an all-day bike adventure, sure. Sit around the living room visiting, no thanks.
That evening we went swimming at the Wallace public pool, and the cool part about that was that it was free.
We had a fun time with good food and lots of laughs with the Nunns.
On our way back to Canada, we stopped in Kalispell to do a little shopping. If we were fast, we could make it back through the border nearest to our house. (the border closes at 6 pm since Covid), or if we took longer, we could go through a different border that would add an hour to our trip. We conquered the shopping in 2 hours. We have a super power to drop $780 in 2 hours.
Jill and Larsen left to go home straight from Wallace.
