Carly competed in her junior high track meet and placed in discus, long jump and triple jump.
Then she got to divisionals, and she placed in discus. She also ran the hurtles and made it to zones because only 3 girls competed, and the top two get to go to zones.
Well, I decided not to go to zones since she was only in one event, and I had already taken the day off work for her first two track meets. So I asked Cari Pilling to video her hurtle run (then she actually had her sister-in-law Marina video), but Carly hit a hurtle and went down hard and got a really good scrape on her hip. But she got up and finished the race. That says a lot about her. Not a hurtle champion (as she probably only practiced once or twice), but she has grit.
Then she played a little spring league basketball.
She competed in her grade 8 triathalon. Lots of girls do a relay, and only do one of the three events. But not if your dad is Austin Nunn. You do all 3 events - swimming, archery and running. Carly came in third out of 3 that did the solo triathalon, but she did it and finished!
For her year-end awards as she finished her junior high career, she was on the honor roll, got nominated for the Cougar Scholarship, and won Female Athlete of the Year.
