Waterton in Winter

Most years during December we are busy with school, basketball, rodeos, church activities & Christmas events. Not in 2020. We have none of that. And we have a really mild December so we decided to go hiking in Waterton. When we left our house it was 10 degrees Celsius (50 F), and we said the word hiking so Carly thought they meant dress like it was fall. When we got out of the car to start our hike to Cameron Lake, Carly wished she had come more prepared. All she had was a hoodie (no coat, gloves or hat - I also felt bad for not helping her get ready because I had all of those things). Lucy didn't have gloves or a hat either, and they only brought boots because I did recommend that on the way out the door when they both put on their running shoes.
Luckily when you hike your body temperature rises but it was still cool because the sun goes behind the mountains so early in the afternoon and there was wind in spots. The other hiking milestone was that we walked really fast the whole way there and back - the fastest Austin had ever walked. Austin is a slow walker. But he just got his hips injected so now his hips have no pain and so he feels "spry" again.
The lake is so cool right now because you can hearing it cracking from the cold air/warm air.
