Our living prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, released a video message to the world on Friday, November 20 at 11 am. I looked forward to it for days and tuned in while I was at work that day. President Nelson talked about all of the trial we are facing as we live through a pandemic. Then he gave us three remedies to help heal our hearts.
1. Turn social media into your own gratitude journal
For each of the next seven days, post about something or someone you're grateful for using the #GiveThanks hashtag. Invite others to do the same. As we fill our hearts with thanks, we will be better prepared to light the world together in December.
2. Say a prayer of thanks
With all the chaos around you, it can be hard to recognize the hand of God in your life. Take a moment to reflect on your blessings and kneel in prayer to thank Him. Gratitude brings even more blessings.
3. Build your relationship with Jesus
Jesus Christ lived His life in thankfulness to God. You can follow His example by recognizing your blessings and expressing your gratitude.
Then President Nelson said a prayer on behalf of the world thanking Heavenly Father for our blessings and asking for us to be delivered from the pandemic.
The next few posts are what each of us posted each day to #givethanks.
The first day I posted there had been 600,000 Facebook posts using #givethanks. When I posted on the seventh day, there were 3.6 million posts, and that is only the ones on Facebook - not including Instagram or Twitter or people who didn't use the hashtag or made up another one.
