A Bridal Shower for Jill

We planned Jill's bridal shower for a summer evening in our yard. Every night at 8 pm the week before, I would take note of how beautiful the evening was. Then a couple days before Jill's bridal shower, it showed a partly cloudy forecast. The day of the shower I watched the sky and worried all day.
As the time got closer, it got more windy and the temperature was dropping. We started around the fire, but then we moved to the side of the house to block the wind. And I went an brought out all the blankets we had.
We made the best of it, and everyone was generous with their gifts to Jill. I also had everyone share some advice with Jill. We had some good laughs. We are thankful for the village that helps to raise our kids.
Later after I was still feeling bad for the cold weather, we found out that at the same time the storm had hit Taber with a terrible hailstorm that took out much of their corn crop. Even Aunt Sarah was planning on coming to the bridal shower, but she called and said it was raining so hard she couldn't even see so she wasn't going to be able to come. So I guess we should be glad it didn't even rain and we were still able to have the party.
However, the next night at 8 pm the weather was perfect again...
