A Load of Nunn Events

A lot has happened in the last month for our little Nunn family.

First, we celebrated Carly's first birthday. I was going to let it slide by with cake and 2 toys for gifts that I bought for her, but the other girls wanted a whole celebration. Lucy said we had to decorate, so we put up streamers and bought a balloon. Hanna was disappointed that we didn't have sticky buns for breakfast since that is our birthday tradition.

But Carly did enjoy the cake and candles, the toys, and the gifts from the grandmas and Aunt Diana.

We love having Carly in our family. Austin says daily, "Were our other kids this mischievous?" Carly loves to go where she isn't supposed to go (like onto the soccer field during a soccer game). She hasn't made it through a Sacrament Meeting since she was in the sleepy newborn phase. She can make a mess like no other. She loves to smear her food and then toss some on the floor. She only lasted in her high chair for a few months. She just crawled out every time we put her in, so we just ended the battle and put her up to the table in her booster chair. She also likes to make messes like pull the books or pants off the shelf. She doesn't like strangers, but she is a pretty happy kid when she is with one of her parents. But she has the cutest laugh and smile. The one partially dainty thing is that when she ate her birthday cake or when I give her a peanut butter sandwich, she just picks off little bits to eat at a time.

Another huge event in our family is our new dog, Roxy. Austin promised Hanna at the beginning of the school year that if she read every day for 20 minutes, she would get a dog at the end of the school year. So Les found us a great dog that is a red heeler-border collie cross. She is so friendly and fun. We let her in the house for a while each day, and she hasn't caused any problems. Carly and Lucy love to play with her also. We will eventually train her to push the cows up the alley when Austin is roping. The other day Lucy told me she was going to call Les and ask if he could get her another dog.

Soccer has taken up much of our spring, which is mostly good. Jill is playing on a competitive soccer team. She is the goalie, and she is really good at it. She even had to play goalie for a shoot-out the other night because the game was still tied after double over time. She has made really good friends with her teammates. She gets to go to Summer Games in Cedar City with her team.

Hanna is on a girls rec soccer team of 1st-2nd graders. Hanna has made all of the goals for her team this year, except 2. She is so fast.

Another big event was a trip-job interview-almost moved - to Powell, Wyoming. We took a family trip to check out Powell. We went to church, and the people were so, so friendly and told us that they love living there. Then Austin had a job interview to be the assistant principal/athletic director at Powell High School. I went with him to a meet the candidates open house where the staff and parents came to meet the applicants. Austin left thinking he didn't get it because he doesn't have athletic director experience. Much to his surprise, he got offered the job. The list of advantages of taking the job were great (great pay, smaller school, smaller class sizes for our kids, great community, etc) but he just did not feel good about it. So after much stress and praying, he decided to decline the offer.

Wow, that is a big month! You have lots of things at your house that we don't . . . athleticism, dogs, big career decisions. I'm glad the Nunns will still be in Utah for a while so we can have our semi-annual get-togethers.

Hey kaylynn! I linked here from Julie's Blog! (This is your OLD friend, Michelle. I use fake names on my blog, so that's why this says I'm Valerie.)
Your girls are so darling!!
Powell Wyoming is the same area that my hubby is from. He grew up in Thermopolis and his mom and grandma grew up in Powell and Lovell...
Utah is good. :)

You have definitely been busy! I laughed at all the funny Carly behaviors. What a cool kid.
How fun that the Nunn's have a dog! I'm a little surprise it hasn't come sooner with you being cowboys (girls)and all.

Wow, I am so excited that you got a dog!! (and that you are letting her in the house everyday.) Your family is so dang cute, and I can't belive how big your kids are! How old is Hanna now? Carly is so funny...who needs a boy, when you have her, huh? She does seem to be into a lot! Fun times. I can't wait to see you guys!
