Glacier Hike

We explored a new hike in Glacier to Red Rock Falls. It was the perfect distance, not too steep, with a beautiful waterfall to see.

Austin, Jill and I are on a keto diet for a few weeks (no carbs) so we enjoyed our ham, lettuce and tomato wraps for our picnic. The girls packed our picnic while I was still at work so Hanna packed a keto backpack and a non-keto backpack with bread on their sandwiches and junk food.

Leighton's Birthday

Leavitt Community 125th Celebration

The quality community that we live in (Leavitt) had a celebration for 125 years. They had created a history book over the last year or so. They also had a breakfast, a parade, kids games, a program and an auction. It was the windiest day imaginable. I guess that's normal for Leavitt.  Our family rode our horses in the parade. Grandpa Buck was the auctioneer for the auction. A lot of people that grew up in Leavitt came to the celebration.

This is Lamont & Phyllis Leavitt. They lived in a house at the beginning of our road until about a year ago when they moved into assisted living. He is 99 and she is 96. They were the parade marshals for the Leavitt parade. On a side note, they had a big family birthday celebration planned for his 100th birthday - July 30. He ended up in the hospital with internal bleeding and passed away a week before his birthday. They did end up having his funeral on his 100th birthday. I guess that is also a great way to celebrate your 100th birthday. We all hope we can have as good of health and as much energy as Phyllis and Lamont. They still grew a garden until they moved out of their house. They would hop on their four-wheeler and bring us cucumbers.

Canada Day

This year Canada Day was on Sunday so some celebrations were on Saturday and some on Monday.

First, we went to the parade in Hill Spring. It is a quality small town parade where they go down Main Street and then back down Main Street again.

Then we stopped in Mountain View for the kids games. They ran a few races and Carly got knocked down in the tug of war. Then we went to Remington Carriage Centre because they had advertised there was going to be a carriage parade. It turns out there was no parade, but we did go on a warm-up carriage ride with Grandpa Buck. 

On Monday, we went to Raymond to watch their Canada Day parade. It was fun but it was a cool, windy day. The whole weekend was cold and windy. Dang the southern Alberta sometimes.

Austin told me that he wants someone to play bagpipes at this funeral.

Uncle Rod plugs his ears when the fire trucks go by and run their sirens. Last year he brought ear plugs, this year he just plugged his ears. He will probably have the best hearing when we are old:)

My new ministering sisters (Kim Weston and Lakeisha Forsyth) brought me a cake for the 4th of July since I was an American and missing the holiday. It was so thoughtful and delicious. 

Jill's ministering sisters brought her a Canada Day treat since she was missing her Canadian holiday.
