Paisley's Baby Blessing

James and Hanna planned the baby blessing of Paisley so that both families could come and also help with doing the preg checking and fall work of all of the calves. So Austin, Carly and Jill's family came and got to meet Paisley. And we helped James.

The day of the baby blessing was the dedication of the Casper Wyoming Temple. So we went to Gillette to their stake center. Vonda and I volunteered to stay outside with the babies so we sat in the car with Paisley, Will and we volunteered to watch another little boy from Hanna's ward. They said the temple dedication was so good. Elder Quinten L. Cook dedicated the temple. He talked about the handcart pioneers, and we had just come to Martin's Cove with our youth in August, so it was meaningful. Austin also said that the stake president kept saying, Can you believe there is a temple in Casper, Wyoming??

After the first few minutes in the car, I thought it was going to be the longest two hours, but it turned out to be a really peaceful and sweet time. We won't mention how there was cereal and coins spread throughout Hanna's car. I feel like it was a temple blessing.

So then we went in the church after the dedication so we could have Paisley's blessing.
The priesthood holders were James Teichert, Ron Teichert, Brigham Teichert, Austin Nunn, Larsen Perkins, Bishop Ty Checketts, and Steve Orme.
It was a sweet blessing. Paisley wore the same blessing dress that all of our girls were blessed in.
Then we had a little lunch of sandwiches, chips and brownies.

It was a snowstorm that day, so we all left from the church to head back to our homes.

Paisley Lynn Teichert

Paisley Lynn Teichert was born on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 7:24 am in Spearfish, South Dakota. She weighed 7 lb 5 oz and was 21 inches.

Hanna and James were excited to start a family. Hanna's body said it wanted to be nauseous all through pregnancy, but everything else was healthy and went well.

The Teicherts had a mini baby shower at their family reunion in July. James's sister Mary gave Hanna a couple little BYU onesies that Cosmo had signed. James was Cosmo (the BYU mascot) when he was a college student and had given them to Mary. Then Mary saved them to give to Hanna for their baby. I love that.

Since Hanna was too far away to have a baby shower, she created a baby registry and we had an online baby shower and invited friends to send a gift and advice. So many people were generous and sent lots of gifts, but she said no one sent any advice - she would just be all on her own.

Hanna started having contractions more consistently on Monday, so they drove to the hospital in the middle of the night. The nurses checked her and said she wasn't ready. They would watch her for a couple hours and if she hadn't progressed, they would send her home. So they got home about 5 am.

Then she had a long couple days with contractions about 20 minutes apart. Then on Wednesday night they started getting closer together and more intense. They went to the hospital, and she was definitely in labor. She was thankful for the epidural and then she had her baby the next morning.

I left on Thursday morning to head to Wyoming a little before I had even heard the official baby news. Then we got a text from James that said, "Everything went very well. Both mom and baby are doing great."

Paisley's middle name, Lynn, is named after me, Kaylynn.  Hanna told me that. What an honor!!!

When Jill told Will that Hanna had her baby, he put on his boots to come see "baby plaisley."

Lucy got to call Hanna the day she had her baby - so that was fun.

Hanna, James and Paisley got to leave the hospital about noon the next day. Paisley is healthy and a good eater. She did have slightly high bilirubin levels, so we had to go back  on Saturday for another test. But her levels had gone down, so she didn't need jaundice treatment.

There was a few tears and screaming (from Paisley) when Hanna's milk came in and eating was too hard. But after a couple days, Hanna and Paisley conquered that too.

Austin told Hanna that he had been practicing spelling Paisley's name. P-a-i-s-l-e-y
Hanna thought that was so tender.

Hanna said, "I created this baby on eating cereal."
